Where to get help with gambling in Ireland

This list follows the "Get help" page of the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland's website. All of these services are free.

Signs that gambling is becoming a problem

  • Chasing. Betting more to win back what you have lost.
  • Hiding. Keeping the time or the money from the people close to you.
  • Borrowing. Using credit, loans or money set aside for bills.
  • Raising the stakes. Needing bigger bets to feel the same.
  • Restlessness. Feeling irritable or low when you try to cut down.
  • Escaping. Gambling to get away from stress or worry.

One of these things may warrant consideration. Two or more warrant discussion with someone on the previous list.

BetpandaNothingNo tools at all

For crypto gamblers, a deposit limit that doesn't cover crypto is no limit at all. For them, set a loss limit as well, or get customer support to close your account.

None of these casinos holds an Irish licence, so the tools are whatever each casino wants to give out. Make sure the tool you use is there before depositing.

Habits that keep gambling in its place

  1. Decide the amount firstFix what you can afford to lose before you buy any Bitcoin for it.
  2. Never use creditNo cards, loans or borrowed money. A debt outlasts any session.
  3. Count in euroA falling balance is easy to miss in BTC. Know the euro figure.
  4. Set a timeUse a session timer where the casino has one, or the clock on your phone.
  5. Stop on a lossMoney lost is the price of the night. Trying to win it back costs more.

Self-exclusion in Ireland

Self-exclusion means asking a casino to lock you out for a set period of time. For the casinos listed, this works on a single casino basis and you must request it for each casino you wish to exclude yourself from.

The Irish Gambling Regulation Act 2024 provides for a national self-exclusion register which will apply to all licensed operators. The provisions of the Act are not currently in force. Our tracker of the Act follows when these provisions are enacted.

Until then, the most reliable block is the simplest: withdraw your remaining funds and ask support to close your account and tell someone you trust that you have done this.

Gambling is for adults only

You must be 18 or over to gamble in Ireland. BitcoinSpins is written for adults, and the casinos it covers can ask for proof of age and identity before they pay a withdrawal.

If a child in your home uses a device you gamble on, log out of casino accounts and keep wallet apps locked.
