Crypto Casino KYC: When You Are Asked for ID, and Why

Eoin Fahy, BitcoinSpins editor By Eoin Fahy · Updated 7 October 2026

KYC is "know your customer". It's the identity verification a casino runs before making a payout. Crypto casinos have a name for skipping it. Most allow players to sign up with an email address and then ask for verification later, usually at the time of the first withdrawal or after a set transaction limit. The verification process has moved to the time a player wants to make a withdrawal.

  • 0 of 10asked for documents at sign-up
  • 30 daysto answer an ID request at Metaspins
  • $3,000a day at Cloudbet before full ID
  • 2 weeksto respond at 7Bit, or the payout is cancelled

The short answer

  • No casino we cover asked for documents at sign-up. An email and a password were enough to open an account.
  • All of them can ask later. Every set of terms we read keeps the right to verify identity before paying out.
  • The first withdrawal is the usual trigger. Others are a daily limit, a large win, or a Bitcoin deposit at one casino.
  • Expect photo ID and proof of address. A selfie, a video call or proof of where the money came from can follow.
  • "No KYC" is a promise about today. It lasts until the casino decides otherwise, and your balance is what it holds while it decides.

When a crypto casino runs KYC

Chart of crypto casino KYC triggers: sign-up needs only an email, while ID is asked before a first withdrawal, above a daily amount, or at any time under the terms
The points at which the ten casinos we cover can ask for ID.

During the sign-up process, the ten casinos asked for very little. The majority of the casinos asked for a valid email address and a password. A few casinos asked players to enter a name, date of birth and address before the wallet could be opened. No casino asked for any ID documents.

That is what "no KYC" lists describe, and it is true as far as it goes. The verification process happens later and the terms state when.

KYC at ten crypto casinos: what triggers the ID check

From sign-up on Irish accounts and each casino's terms, read on 6 October 2026. Casinos can ask for ID at any time under their terms.

CloudbetEmail, then name and addressTo withdraw more than about $3,000 a dayLimits rise with each verification level

RoobetUsername, email, passwordBefore larger withdrawalsA first crypto deposit opens an identity form
HellSpinEmail and phone numberAt the first withdrawalID, proof of address, possibly a selfie or call
Slots GalleryEmail and birth dateBefore a Bitcoin deposit (clause 2.7)Source of funds on large sums
7BitEmail and passwordWhen 7Bit requests it (terms 8.4)Unreachable for 2 weeks: withdrawal cancelled
MetaspinsEmail, username, passwordAt a threshold it sets, and at any time (9.7)30 days to answer, or the account can be suspended
BC.GameEmail and passwordAt any time (section 6)Can ask for proof you own the wallet, and source of funds
BetpandaEmail and password"In most cases" not required, per its help pageThe terms still reserve checks

Slots Gallery is the only casino that places the verification process at the beginning. In their terms, a player who wishes to deposit using Bitcoin is required to send a copy of their ID first. The cashier showed us a Bitcoin address anyway, so verify before you send, or the terms are not on your side.

What a crypto casino ID check asks for

  • Photo ID. A passport, national ID card or driving licence, in date, all four corners visible.
  • Proof of address. A bank statement or utility bill from the last three months, showing your name and address.
  • A selfie or a call. HellSpin's FAQ mentions a selfie or phone call. 7Bit's terms allow a phone call or video verification.
  • Source of funds. For large sums, where the money came from: payslips, a bank statement or an exchange history. Slots Gallery's policy lists it.
  • Wallet ownership. Sometimes a small test transaction or a signed message, to show the withdrawal address is yours.

The name on the ID document has to be the same name on the account. An account opened using someone else's name or a nickname fails this process, regardless of how many wins it has.

Why crypto casinos do KYC at all

There are three reasons, and none of them are about you personally.

The first comes with money laundering. A casino is a place where money goes in and comes out looking like winnings. Licenses from Curaçao, Anjouan, and other jurisdictions require operators to identify the beneficiaries of their payments. The same reason sits behind the rule that a deposit must be wagered before it can be withdrawn.

The second is age. The terms and conditions of all casinos state that a player must be 18 to be eligible to play. A document is the only real proof.

The third is bonus abuse. Welcome bonuses attract customers. One person opening five accounts for five welcome bonuses is caught by matching documents. A casino, therefore, is entitled to confiscate winnings from a duplicate account.

A casino that never asks who you are is not doing you a favour. It is keeping its options open for the day you ask to be paid.

What "no KYC crypto casino" really means

No casino can guarantee that it will never ask. Every set of terms we read keeps the right to request documents, and to hold a withdrawal until they arrive. "No KYC" describes sign-up, and small withdrawals at some casinos. It is not a term of the contract.

The risk falls on the player. You deposit and play without a check, then win an amount that triggers one. If you cannot or will not pass it, the casino is holding your balance and you have agreed to terms that let it.

Betpanda's help page states verification is not required in most cases. Cloudbet's cashier states a daily amount you can withdraw before full ID, about $3,000. Both statements are honest about being limits, not promises.

Should you value your privacy, the practical thing to do is to choose a casino whose licence you have confirmed, so that if documents are asked for, they go to a company you can name.

How to pass crypto casino KYC first time

  1. Sign up with real detailsYour legal name, birth date and address, as on your ID.
  2. Verify earlyUpload documents before a big deposit, not after a big win.
  3. Send clean scansIn colour, uncropped, in date, with every corner showing.
  4. Use your own walletWithdraw to an address you control, the same one each time.
  5. Answer quicklyA pending withdrawal waits on you. At 7Bit, two weeks of silence cancels it.

Verification is just one thing that leads to long wait times for payouts. Bitcoin withdrawal times goes over the other things that impact this. Are crypto casinos legit? covers how to check the company you are sending documents to.

The check is important for large payouts, since a casino has the most reason to be diligent. The caps and conditions for these are covered in high roller Bitcoin casinos, and each casino's stated payout time is covered in fast withdrawal Bitcoin casinos.

This will no longer be the case for any casino that holds an Irish licence. Our guide on buying Bitcoin in Ireland, covers purchasing Bitcoin and the exchange side.

Crypto casino KYC: FAQ

Which crypto casino requires no KYC?

None of them can guarantee it. According to their help page, Betpanda says verification is not required in most cases, and Cloudbet allows you to withdraw about $3,000 a day before a full ID. Both have the right to check, and so do all the other casinos we cover.

Is KYC safe at online casinos?

It depends on who you give your ID to, but a casino that is licensed, and has a named company, is probably a better holder of that data than a casino that does not have a licence. You should never send documents via email or chat to someone who contacted you first.

Is KYC mandatory for crypto?

For buying it, yes. Exchanges authorised in the EU must verify every customer. For gambling with it, the casino's licence and terms decide, and most keep the check for withdrawals.

What documents does a crypto casino ask for?

ID proof (passport, national ID or driving licence) and a recent proof of address (bank statement or utility bill) are required. Some casinos may ask for proof of funds or a selfie with ID or a short video call.

How long does casino verification take?

It may take from a few minutes to a few days, depending on the quality of the documents provided. A withdrawal stays pending until it is done. 7Bit's terms cancel the withdrawal if you cannot be reached for two weeks.

Can a casino refuse to pay if I fail KYC?

Yes, a casino can hold or cancel a withdrawal if identity is not confirmed, or the documents provided do not match the account, or a second account is discovered.

Will Irish-licensed casinos require ID?

Yes. Per the regulations passed in 2026, all operators under an Irish licence have to verify the customer's identity and age. Online casino licences are not due until 2027 and 2028. See is crypto gambling legal in Ireland?
